SECOND HALF GOALS GIVE REDS THE OVAL EDGE
Second half goals from Chris and Ryan Curran handed Cliftonville all three points from this visit to The Oval to face Glentoran.
It took a little while for the game to get going with the Glens enjoying the best of what chances were created when Ruiadhri Donnelly produced a good stop from Richard Brush with a header from Marcus Kane's cross.
At the other end Ronan Doherty had a go from 30-yards but this whistled just the wrong side of the left post while, just after the half-hour mark, Conor McMenamin saw a drive deflected before Elliott Morris made the save.
Glentoran might have seized the advantage moments from the break after Elvio van Overbeek latched onto a Kane ball but Brush reacted quickly to snuff out the danger before punching the resultant corner clear.
Cliftonville had the ball in the net right at the start of the second half when Joe Gormley nodded the ball out of Morris' hand before rolling it into the net but the referee disallowed the 'goal'.
But, on 47 minutes, the Reds did move in front when Chris Curran got past Chris Gallagher to run onto a Michael McCrudden pass to poke the ball past Morris.
Then, just after the hour, Ryan Curran made it 2-0 to secure the victory with a great solo effort, flicking the ball over Patrick McClean before showing his composure to fire beyond Morris.
