BANNSIDERS CLOSE GAP TO FOUR POINTS
Coleraine closed the gap at the top of the table to four points with victory over Glenavon at The Showgrounds.
The Bannsiders moved in front after 12 minutes through Stewart Nixon who calmly finished past Jonathan Tuffey after being played into position by James McLaughlin.
And Nixon might have made it 2-0 midway through the first half when he controlled a high ball before volleying across the face of goal and just past the woodwork.
Coleraine did double their advantage on 34 minutes when McLaughlin turned the ball home after it fell loose from a Nixon effort which Tuffey had kept out.
After the break Colin Coates might have pulled one back for Glenavon only to send the ball just the wrong side of the back post.
But, with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining, the visitors did reduce the deficit thanks to Conor McCloskey's 20-yard free-kick past Chris Johns.
However, it wasn't enough to spark a late comeback as Coleraine held on to secure the points.
