MITCHELL SPOT ON FOR LARNE
Larne made it six wins in a row across all competitions with victory over Warrenpoint Town at Inver Park.
Played in somewhat blustery conditions, Larne had an early chance through debutant Joe Tully who received a right-sided cross from Tomas Cosgrove before testing keeper Gabriel Sava but somehow his downward header was kept out.
Larne generally dominated possession but found it difficult to penetrate a well organised visiting defence although Dean Jarvis and Martin Donnelly did create chances of note.
Lee Lynch then dragged an effort wide when well placed from a Jeff Hughes defence splitting ball while, towards the break, Harry Flowers was unlucky not to break the deadlock with a header from a Donnelly corner.
Larne enjoyed further chances in the second half through Cosgrove and Fuad Sule with Donnelly almost squeezing the ball home at the near post only to be denied by Sava.
But, with five minutes to go, Larne did get the goal their efforts deserved when Donnelly was tripped in the box and, from the subsequent spot-kick, substitute Andrew Mitchell stepped up to fire beyond Sava into the top corner.
