WATERWORTH DOUBLE MOVES BLUES FOUR CLEAR
Linfield opened up a four point gap at the top of the table following victory over Warrenpoint Town at Milltown.
The visitors created the early running with Shayne Lavery perhaps coming closest with a low shot after being played in by Kirk Millar.
David Healy's side moved in front after 23 minutes when Colm Deasy's back header was intercepted by Andrew Waterworth who duly knocked the ball past keeper Gareth Buchanan.
Millar and Lavery combined again before the break with the roles reversed this time but Millar's shot was kept out by Buchanan.
'Point levelled two minutes into the second half through Ryan Swan with a finish into the bottom left corner after Kealan Dillon had dispossessed Jimmy Callacher to create the opening.
However, Linfield restored their advantage on the hour. Callacher knocked on a Stephen Fallon free-kick for Waterworth but he was adjudged to have been fouled by Anton Reilly and after taking a moment to regain his composure Waterworth himself stepped up to send Buchanan the wrong way from the spot.
Fallon might have added a third as the game progressed with a deflected wind assisted effort but Buchanan did well to hold onto the ball while, at the other end, Emmett Bennett had a chance with a header only to direct it straight at Rohan Ferguson.
