LARNE SWEEP 'STUTE ASIDE AT THE BRANDYWELL
Larne swept to a comprehensive victory over Institute at the Brandywell with all four goals coming in a blistering second half period.
Scoreless at the break, the visitors did enjoy plenty of possession but with little end product although David McDaid was denied by a Rory Brown before Dean Curry blocked Lee Lynchs follow up.
For 'Stute Abu Obhakhan came closest after turning on the edge of the area but his shot on goal was comfortably held by Conor Devlin.
The deadlock was broken in Larne's favour on 52 minutes when Lee Lynch's corner from the left was headed into his own net by Conor Tourish whilst attempting to clear the danger.
It was 2-0 on 63 minutes when McDaid found the net from close range after John Herron had played the ball across the area before, on 68 minutes, Jeff Hughes added a third with a long range effort which deceived the 'Stute keeper with what appeared to be an unfortunate bounce.
Hughes increased Larne's advantage further still three minutes after McDaid had been bundled over by Brown inside the area, stepping up to fire confidently straight down the middle from the spot.
And it might have been worse for Institute with just under a quarter-of-an-hour remaining when they conceded a second penalty after Ryan Morrow had impeded Joe Tully but Hughes was unable to claim his hat-trick after Brown produced a brilliant save.
