LARNE TOO STRONG FOR BLUES AT INVER
Larne dealt a blow to Linfield's title ambitions when they came from behind to defeat the Blues at Inver Park.
Linfield raced into the lead as early as the third minute after Jordan Stewart nipped in front of his marker to meet Kirk Millar's cross to tuck the ball away at the near post.
But, around sixty seconds later, Larne were back on level terms through David McDaid who got the final touch to turn Mark Randall's speculative effort over the line.
Then, on 17 minutes, Tiernan Lynch's side moved into the lead with McDaid's second of the evening, a rifled finish into the top corner from 14 yards after Randall had found him with a through ball.
The visitors might have levelled just after the half-hour mark when Millar crossed from the right but Shayne Lavery just failed to tap home at the far post while, at the other end, Randall sent a dipping half volley just over.
And Randall almost extended Larne's lead before the break when, following some good work from McDaid getting a cross over from the left, he struck the top of the bar from 12 yards.
The second half was an even contest with not much between the sides and few scoring opportunities before, on 71 minutes, Larne made sure of the points when Harry Flowers met a Martin Donnelly free-kick at the near post to send a powerful header past Rohan Ferguson.
