ALEXANDER THE GREAT BAGS COLERAINE'S WINNER
Substitute Alex Gawne bagged the only goal of the game as Coleraine defeated Cliftonville at The Showgrounds in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
The 18-year-old broke the deadlock on 72 minutes, just over ten minutes after coming on for Matthew Fitzpatrick, with a cross/shot which caught out Reds keeper Richard Brush.
The first half produced few noteworthy moments, with James McLaughlin perhaps coming closest for the Bannsiders with a header from Jamie Glackin's cross while, for Cliftonville, Chris Johns tipped over Conor McDermott's 25-yard effort while the resulting corner eventually came off the base of an upright.
After the break Rory Donnelly saw a well taken effort saved by Johns while Ian Parkhill tested Brush on a number of occasions at the other end.
Cliftonville tried to salvage something from the game after falling behind but failed to trouble the Bannsiders defence. As a result Coleraine move into third, a couple of points behind leaders Crusaders while Cliftonville stay fifth a little further behind but with a game in hand.
