SWIFTS HOLD BLUES AT WINDSOR
Morning leaders Linfield slipped back off the top of the Danske Bank Premiership following a scoreless draw at home to Dungannon Swifts.
Despite starting brightly, the Blues failed to create any chances of note during the opening exchanges, although Shayne Lavery was denied by a well timed lunge from Caolin Coyle.
The Swifts could point only to a Douglas Wilson 25-yard left-foot free-kick which sailed well over but, all in all, it was a first half largely bereft of noteworthy goalmouth action.
Mark Stafford, scorer of the winner against Cliftonville on Monday night, almost changed all that less than ten minutes after the break but his close range header from Joel Cooper's cross went over the bar.
Lavery then had an even closer change around four minutes later, again with a close range header, but he could only direct that against the back post.
Dungannon's best opportunity came late in the game through Daniel Hughes. The ball dropped well for him inside the box but he volleyed over when he will feel he could have done a lot better.
Teenage keeper Conner Byrne twice saved the Swifts in the closing moments to deny first Lavery and the Stafford at the back post.
