GLENS BEAT 'POINT TO HIT THE TOP
Glentoran moved to the top of the table on goals scored after coming from behind to defeat Warrenpoint Town at The Oval.
Mick McDermott's side enjoyed the majority of play in a scoreless first half but couldn't find a way through with Robbie McDaid coming closest around the half-hour mark when, with the goal at his mercy, he could only head wide of the target.
Chris Gallagher, Hrvoje Plum and Marcus Kane also tested 'Point keeper Mark Byrne while only a last ditch tackle from Danny Wallace denied Navid Nasseri.
However, the Glens were rocked just five minutes into the second half when bottom of the table 'Point moved in front when Alan O'Sullivan did well to control a Dermot McVeigh pass before finishing with aplomb past Marijan Antolovic.
It was almost 2-0 to the visitors soon after when new signing Colm Deasy forced Antolovic into a diving save to keep out his well taken effort.
Glentoran might have levelled on 68 minutes through Elvio van Overbeek's header against the outside of a post but, just a couple of minutes after that, they were thrown a huge advantage when 'Point lost keeper Byrne after he was shown a straight red card for impeding Jonny Frazer just outside the box when he was through on goal.
After a brief lull during which Warrenpoint sacrificed Brandon Doyle to bring on substitute keeper Berraat Turker play resumed with Plum laying the ball off for McDaid to slip the equaliser home from the edge of the six yard box.
Then, just three minutes after that, Plum fired the Glens in front with what proved to be the winner and a trademark free-kick which he sent over the wall and into the net with Turker left static.
