McDAID STRIKES TWICE LATE ON TO EARN LARNE THE POINTS
Two late Davy McDaid goals earned Larne the points from their visit to face Warrenpoint Town at Milltown.
The visitors had a couple of early chances. Johnny McMurray saw an effort deflected over with Mark Randall then pouncing of a mistake by Danny Wallace but instead of going for goal he attempted to find Davy McDaid who was duly flagged offside.
For Warrenpoint Brandon Doyle headed across the face of goal, Larne keeper Conor Devlin then did well to save at Lorcan Forde's feet while Alan O'Sullivan then saw a long range strike sail over.
There was a huge chance for Larne early in the second half when substitute Lee Lynch was played through on goal but 'Point keeper Mark Byrne produced an important save to keep him out.
At the other end Doyle offered up a free-kick but, ultimately, his effort was directed straight at Devlin.
However Larne stepped up a gear in the closing minutes. Ben Tilney saw an effort cleared off the line by Emmett Bennett before, on 85 minutes, McDaid found the net with a low, hard shot at the back post.
Then, in stoppage time, McDaid doubled Larne's lead with a lobbed finish over Byrne on the breakaway.
