GLENAVON SWEEP TO SECOND STRAIGHT WIN
Glenavon made it two wins on the bounce with a comprehensive defeat of Institute at the Brandywell.
It took the Lurgan Blues just 88 seconds to open the scoring after Josh Daniels crossed for Andy Hall to tap the ball home at the second attempt following an initial block from Colm McLaughlin.
Gary Hamilton's crafted a number of chances as the first half progressed but they had to wait until the 35th minute to double their lead when Jack Bradley unluckily turned the ball into his own net whilst attempting to clear Hall's inswinging free-kick from the right.
And it got worse for 'Stute five minutes after that when Andrew Doyle nodded past Rory Brown from right-sided James Singleton's corner delivered to the far post.
'Stute looked a better prospect after the break but they almost fell further behind when Caolan Marron tested keeper Brown midway through the second half before Singleton came even close only to rattle the crossbar from 20 yards.
Glenavon did add a fourth with three minutes with a peach of a strike from Josh Daniels who curled a finish beyond an outstretched Brown into the top corner from just outside the area.
Institute earned a stoppage time consolation courtesy of Jamie Dunne's sidefooted close range touch after Cormac Burke's effort had come back off the crossbar.
