CARRICK HIT GLENAVON FOR SIX
Carrick Rangers swept to a stunning six goal victory over Glenavon at the Loughshore Hotel Arena.
Gerard Thompson opened the scoring after a quarter-of-an-hour with a shot squeezed past Jonny Tuffey at the near post.
Glenavon levelled ten minutes later through Aaron Harmon after getting on the end of Gary Hamilton's pass before running through the home defence to beat Aaron Hogg.
But Carrick regained the advantage five minutes before the break thanks to a stunning strike from Stewart Nixon into the bottom corner.
Then, barely eight seconds after the interval, Guillaume Keke made it 3-1 with a low shot past Tuffey following a botched Harmon clearance with James Ferrin adding a fourth eight minutes later with a header from a Nixon left-sided delivery.
The scoring continued just after the hour when Lee Chapman teamed up with Daniel Kelly to turn home Carrick's fifth at the back post while, on 76 minutes, Michael Smith made it six from close range.
Glenavon did pull one back with ten minutes to go via Josh Daniels but it did little to spoil a memorable afternoon for Niall Currie's rampant Rangers.
