McDAID BAGS HAT-TRICK AS GLENS HIT SWIFTS FOR SIX
Robbie McDaid bagged a hat-trick as Glentoran impressively swept past Dungannon Swifts at The Oval.
Glentoran raced into the lead with two goals inside the opening ten minutes.
McDaid kicked the scoring off on six minutes with low finish to the right of Stuart Addis before, just a couple of minutes later, he doubled up with a chip over the keeper from Navid Nasseri's lob over the defence.
However, Dungannon pulled a goal back on 14 minutes through Ben Gallagher with a snapshot from the edge of the area into the bottom corner.
The Glens will feel they should have at least restored their two-goal lead with a Marcus Kane drive past the upright followed by two Nasseri efforts which Addis twice tipped away.
Addis was then called into action again later in the half to thwart Elvio van Overbeek after he looked poised to convert Hrvoje Plum's right-wing cross.
Glentoran did add to their lead just after the hour when Gavin Peers crossed from the right with Paul O'Neill on hand to head home into the top corner.
Then, five minutes later, O'Neill claimed his second of the afternoon with a finish into the left corner of the net from inside the area.
McDaid then claimed his hat-trick with just under a quarter-of-an-hour to go with a successfully converted spot-kick after the referee spotted handball inside the area.
And Glentoran weren't finished yet, with Plum knocking home a sixth with three minutes later with a trademark exquisitely executed free-kick.
