DONNELLY GOAL ENOUGH FOR TEN-MAN LARNE
Martin Donnelly's goal early in the second half proved enough for ten-man Larne to secure victory over Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park.
What proved to be the winner arrived on 46 minutes when Caomhan McGuinness miskicked in defence with the ball falling for Donnelly to send a composed finish past Sam Johnston.
Chances were at a premium in a scoreless first half with the opening effort not arriving until after a quarter-of-an-hour had elapsed when Larne skipper Jeff Hughes produced a diving save from the Swifts keeper.
The visitors were reduced to ten men midway through the half when Tomas Cosgrove was shown a straight red card following an incident with Dylan King.
Larne almost seized the advantage moments from the break when David McDaid found himself through on goal but Johnston did enough to intervene.
Dungannon might have levelled with less than 20 minutes remaining when Ryan Waide was played through but his well struck effort was equally as well dealt with by Larne keeper Conor Devlin while Lee Lynch threatened at the other end with an excellent run and shot.
But despite exerting some pressure in the closing moments the Swifts never looked like snatching the points away from their guests.
