SEAVIEW STALEMATE FOR CRUES AND STUTE
The points were shared at Seaview following two quick fire first half goals for both Crusaders and Institute in the Danske Bank Premiership.
‘Stute took a shock lead on 38 minutes as after Gerard Doherty had did well to save Gareth Brown’s header from a Niall Grace cross – the ball only was parried as far as Colm McLaughlin who drilled home the loose ball.
The advantage lasted only two minutes though – as Jamie McGoingle capitalised on Jordan Owens’ flick on from a long ball to nip in and slide the ball past Rory Brown for the equaliser.
On 77 minutes Crusaders thought they had gone in front when Paul McElroy’s deep cross into the box caught goalkeeper Brown unaware and he could only palm the ball out to the head of substitute David Cushley – who headed into the goal only to be flagged offside.
McLaughlin had a golden chance to win the game for Institute in stoppage time as he was played through in space onrushing down the left hand channel but could only drill his effort into the side netting.
