GLENAVON CLAIM FIRST AWAY WIN OF THE SEASON
Glenavon halted their recent poor run of form with their first away win of the season over bottom of the table Warrenpoint Town at Milltown.
The visitors might have opened the scoring early on when winger Kyle Beggs crossed low from the right for Andrew Mitchell but he could only drag his effort wide of the post.
At the other end soon after a goalkick error by Glenavon keeper James Taylor almost allowed Alan O'Connor to capitalise but his attempt to find the net ended with the ball going off target.
Beggs then had a chance with a half volley and then another effort which curled just wide of the far post.
O'Sullivan had another opportunity for 'Point late in the first half when a clearance bypassed the Glenavon defence but his first touch let him down allowing Taylor to gather.
Scoreless at the break, that all changed early in the second half when three goals in seven minutes sparked the game into life.
On 52 minutes Rhys Marshall fired Glenavon in front with a close range finish past Berraat Turker after Jack O'Mahony flicked a header on.
'Point levelled four minutes later thanks to Danny Wallace's nod from an Eamon Scannell corner but, within two minutes, Glenavon were back in front with Eoin Wearen directing a header over the line at the from another corner.
Lorcan Forde then had a chance for a second Warrenpoint leveller but could only drag the ball the wrong side of the far post after coming in from the right before, at the other end, Wallace almost turned a Mitchell corner into his own net with an attempted headed clearance against the crossbar.
Glenavon did get their third with just under a quarter-of-an-hour remaining when Wallace miscued a Taylor goalkick into the path of Mitchell who made no mistake in calmly finishing past Turker.
