McDAID CLAIMS MATCH BALL AS LARNE HIT GLENAVON FOR SIX
David McDaid bagged a second half hat-trick as Larne swept to a crushing victory over Glenavon at Inver Park.
Larne raced into a commanding three-goal lead in a blistering spell early in the first half.
Martin Donnelly opened the scoring after 11 minutes with a well executed free-kick - awarded following a foul on Ben Tilney on the edge of the box - which sailed over the wall to give keeper Johnny Tuffey no chance.
It was 2-0 five minutes later through Johnny McMurray who turned inside the box to fire into the top corner.
Then, on 24 minutes, Donnelly doubled his tally after getting past Paddy Burns onto a Tilney pass before sliding the ball under Tuffey from around 15 yards.
Glenavon's woes continued five minutes into the second half with the first of McDaid's goals, an 18-yard drive into the roof of the net after receiving the ball from Donnelly.
Gary Hamilton's side might have pulled one back around the hour when Andy Mitchell struck an upright from close range while Rhys Marshall produced a reflex stop from Conor Devlin.
However, McDaid added Larne's fifth on 72 minutes with a close range finish after Donnelly came close before, with five minutes left, he struck again after connecting with Sean Graham's low cross to complete the scoring.
