KANE WINNER MOVES GLENS UPTO THIRD
Glentoran moved into third spot in the Danske Bank Premiership with victory over Larne at The Oval.
The sides traded chances during the early exchanges. Sean Graham tested Glentoran keeper Marijan Antolovic with a 20-yard drive while, at the other end, Conor Mitchell was equally alert to deal with Hrvoje Plum's effort from distance before, a little later, tipping a free-kick from the same player over.
Larne moved in front on 34 minutes through Jeff Hughes who offered up a speculative 20-yard drive which deceived Antolovic on its way into the net.
But, five minutes later, Glentoran levelled courtesy of Paul O'Neill's back post finish after an Elvio van Overbeek lofted ball into the box wasn't cleared.
The visitors had a couple of chances to regain the lead around the hour when Martin Donnelly's low shot from the edge of the box was turned by Antolovic followed by Shane McEleney's flashed effort over from a corner before Fuad Sule also had a shot from inside the area.
However, what proved to be Glentoran's winner came with just over a quarter-of-an-hour remaining when Larne keeper Mitchell failed to hold onto a long throw allowing Marcus Kane to stab the loose ball over the line.
