FRIEL BAGS LATE DOUBLE AS TEN-MAN SKY BLUES BEAT POINT
Ballymena United swept to a four-goal defeat of Warrenpoint Town at The Showgrounds despite playing the last half-an-hour or so with ten men.
The visitors enjoyed slightly the better chances during a quiet opening period with Lorcan Forde perhaps coming closest when his header forced a good save from Ross Glendinning.
However, Ballymena edged in front with a quarter-of-an-hour gone through Leroy Millar who tucked the ball into the bottom corner after Jude Winchester touched on an Andy McGrory cross.
David Jeffrey's side were reduced to ten men just before the hour when, following a challenge on Conall Young, Andrew Burns was shown a straight red card by referee Arnold Hunter.
Ballymena doubled their lead on 74 minutes courtesy of a curling free-kick from McGrory into the top corner awarded following a Danny White foul on Cathair Friel on the edge of the area.
Then, seven minutes after that, Friel got on the scoresheet himself with a nodded finish from a pinpoint Steven McCullough cross.
And the scoring was completed right at the end when Friel doubled his tally with a cool dink over Evan Moran from Millar's through ball.
