ROESIDERS STRETCH LEAD AT THE TOP
Limavady United opened up a three point gap at the top of the Playr-Fit Premier Intermediate League with victory over Lisburn Distillery at The Showgrounds.
The Roesiders moved in front midway through the first half when Joe McCready made the most of a poor clearance before, just after the half-hour mark, Alex Pomeroy doubled up when he rounded keeper Ethan Carry.
Distillery did reduce the deficit six minutes from the break after a Jack Berry cross was turned home at the second attempt by Ryan McNickle.
However, United restored their two-goal cushion late in the half through Lewis Tosh after he cut in from the right to fire past Carry.
The Whites came within a whisker of pulling another one back very early in the second half but McNickle was unlucky when his shot on the turn came back off the crossbar.
McNickle did find the net again on 70 minutes when he rolled the ball past home keeper Richard Purcell but despite Limavady being reduced to ten men following Matthew Walker's 83rd minute dismissal for a challenge on Curtis Woods they held on to secure all three points.
