STUDENTS HIT CASH WITH FIRST DEFEAT
PIL leaders Ballymacash Rangers fell to their first defeat of the season with a 3-2 reversal at home to Queen's University.
Two goals in quick succession midway through the first half from Matthew Hughes and Ben Mulgrew put the Students very much in the driving seat.
Michael Moore pulled one back for ‘Cash on 68 minutes but Hughes, with his second of the afternoon, restored QUB’s two-goal cushion moments later.
Joshua Cahoon failed to convert from the spot on 87 minutes as Rangers chased a point and although Justin Armstrong did reduce the deficit in the closing moments the visitors held on to move into third spot.
