GOWDY DOUBLE HELPS SEND SWANS TOP
Newington moved to the top of the Lough 41 Premier Intermediate League with victory over Lisburn Distillery at Seaview.
The Swans needed just five minutes to open the scoring when Richard Gowdy found the net with a header before Darren Stuart added a second over half-an-hour later.
The Whites fought back to level through Aaron Harris in first half stoppage time and then Lewis Higginson not long after the interval.
However Anto McGonnell edged Newington back in front with just over a quarter-of-an-hour to go, followed by Gowdy's second on the evening with nine minutes left on the clock.
