SWANS SOAR TO THE TOP
Newington defeated Banbridge Town by two goals at Crystal Park to move to the top of the Lough 41 Premier Intermediate League.
It capped a great week for the Swans following their Christmas Day Steel & Sons Cup triumph over Linfield Swifts.
The goals came early in the game, with Ciaran Lundy opening the scoring with barely three minutes on the clock before, just after the quarter-of-an-hour mark, great work from Daniel White resulted in home defender Dean Morgan turning the ball into his own net.
Both sides were reduced to ten men just before the break when Kevin Anderson and Robbie McVarnock were dismissed by referee Evan Boyce following a melee resulting from a challenge by Town's Jack Barbour in front of the dugouts.
