SEAHAWKS CLOSE GAP AT THE TOP
Portstewart closed the gap at the top of the table to two points with victory over Bangor at Mullaghacall.
The Seahawks moved in front with what proved to be the only goal of the game on 21 minutes when unfortunate Bangor defender Ryan Arthur glanced the ball into his own net whilst attempting to deal with a wind assisted free-kick delivered from some way out.
Bangor keeper Michael Dougherty prevented a second soon after with a decent save with his feet.
Still trailing at the break, the Seasiders might have levelled on 67 minutes when Gerard McMullan's cross drifted just past a post while, seven minutes later, Jack Wasson struck an upright.
Matthew Johnston then threatened with an 87th minute 20-yard drive which Andy Findlay did well to tip over as Portstewart held on to secure the points.
