JOHNSTON HITS HAT-TRICK AS SEASIDERS COAST TO VICTORY
Matthew Johnston bagged a hat-trick as Bangor swept to a comfortable victory over bottom of the table Tobermore United at the Bangor Fuels Arena.
The 27-year-old former Glentoran man opened the scoring after seven minutes with an effort from the edge of the box in off the post past keeper Lukasz Bednarz.
Team-mate Ryan Arthur made it 2-0 on 38 minutes with a header from a left-sided corner which crossed the line despite the best efforts of Ben Moore to hook the ball away.
Johnston added to Bangor's lead with his second of the game eight minutes after the break with a rising effort off the underside of the bar from around 25 yards.
Tobermore pulled a goal back with five minutes remaining when Conor Kearns converted from the spot after Thomas Elder had been fouled just inside the area.
However, Johnston restored Bangor's three-goal advantage - and made his claim for the match ball - just a couple of minutes after that with a 30-yard right-foot finish low beyond the reach of Bednarz.
