SEASIDERS MARK LEAGUE RETURN WITH A WIN
Bangor got their league campaign off to the perfect start with a two-goal home defeat of Banbridge Town.
Marking their return to the Bluefin Sport Premier Intermediate League, the Seasiders started brightly when Gerard McMullan tested keeper Gerard McErlean from a Ben Arthurs flick.
At the other end Jason Craughwell was called upon to tip an effort onto the crossbar and again soon after when Darren McGrath went close.
The Bangor crossbar was rattled again midway through the first half but the home side did create another opening a few minutes later through Gareth Beattie but his free-kick went over - with further efforts coming in the closing moments via Arthurs and McMullan.
The Seasiders eventually opened the scoring on 51 minutes when Barry Walsh reacted quickest to the loose ball after his initial effort was blocked, sending the follow up into the top corner.
Then, six minutes after that, it was 2-0 after Matthew Johnston played Arthurs through to lift the ball over McErlean.
And they might have added a third in the dying moments of the game but substitute Mark Ballantine could only look on as his header was cleared off the line.
