Newry City have been promoted to the Championship following a 3-1 defeat of Armagh City at Holm Park.

That win, plus Tuesday's 4-0 victory in the first leg at The Showgrounds, ensured Darren Mullen's side ran out comfortable 7-1 winners over the two legs.

Scoreless at the break, Newry moved in front on the night just before the hour through Declan Carville's close range finish after Keith Johnston had beaten the offside trap to deliver the cross.

Shea Campbell levelled for Armagh on 64 minutes after connecting with a Sean Mallon cross to nod the ball beyond Kieran Gordon.

However Carville struck again three minutes later with a cool, composed finish before, four minutes after that, Mark Hughes completed the scoring with a back post header following a move down the right.
