The Roesiders needed just five minutes to open the scoring when Lee Harkin exchanged passes with Robbie Hume on the edge of the box before shooting low to the left of 'keeper Connor Archer.

United extended their lead in the 25th minute, through Declan McKeever, who followed up at the second attempt after his initial effort came back off an upright.

Newington were gifted a way back into the game on 38 minutes when John Watt misjudged a high ball outside the box upon which Padraig Scollay pounced to fire home with a cool finish.

However Watt redeemed himself a minute before the break, heading home powerfully from a corner.

The second half began with United in the ascendancy, Colin Murray chipping the ball over both the goalkeeper and the bar on 49 minutes. He had another chance soon afterwards, but his effort was blocked.

With Limavady created numerous chances it was only a matter of time before their fourth goal arrived with Hume grabbing it on 52 minutes after tapping in a Bryan McClelland cutback.

Watt completed the scoring with ten minures remaining with a somewhat nonchalant header.
