Stewart Nixon grabbed a hat-trick on his debut as Ballyclare Comrades thumped Institute at Dixon Park.

'Stute raced into the lead after just a couple of minutes when Caoimhin Bonner nodded the ball past Comrades 'keeper Geoff McKinty.

Ballyclare might have levelled on nine minutes after Adam Gray was brought down inside the box but Paul Maguire was unable to beat Martin Gallagher from the penalty that followed.

However, Maguire redeemed himself just before the half-hour mark with a good finish beyond the visiting 'keeper after Nixon created the opening.

Then, a couple of minutes after that, Clifford Adams' side were awarded their second penalty of the game when Maguire impeded inside the box with Samuel McIlveen stepping up to convert.

That was how it stayed until Nixon opened his account on 67 minutes after getting on the end of a long clearance to beat a defender and calmly taking the ball around Gallagher into the net.

He then turned provider with ten minutes to go with a perfectly weighted ball for Thomas Robinson to volley home at the far post.

And Nixon claimed the match ball with a further two goals in the closing stages. On 85 minutes he curled the ball past Gallagher from 15 yards before turning home Ballyclare's third penalty of the night right at the end.
