Newry City hold a commanding lead going into the second leg of the NIFL Championship promotion/relegation play-off with Armagh City on Friday night.

Darren Mullen's side seized the advantage after 19 minutes through Jimmy Walker with a low, drilled finish from around 15 yards past 'keeper John Connolly.

It was 2-0 not long from the break thanks to Declan Carville's persistence and strength in holding off the Armagh defence before sending a left-foot shot home.

Keith Johnston added to Newry's lead just after the hour mark when he connected with a Carville flick to fire past Connolly into the bottom corner.

And he completed the scoring in stoppage time with a cool finish between Connolly's legs.
