BLUEFIN SPORT CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW: 1/2 NOVEMBER

The Bluefin Sport Championship kicks off this weekend for December, with five important clashes.

Newry City have the chance to go second in the Championship table with a win against Dergview tonight (Friday). Darren Mullen’s border side are currently nine games unbeaten in all competitions and make the long journey to Castlederg to face a side that will be still reeling off the back of a 5-1 defeat to the Welders.

On Saturday, Institute have the chance to go back level at the top of the tree with a home game against Loughgall at Wilton Park. Paddy McLaughlin’s side haven’t lost in the league since the start of September and are currently three points behind leaders Ballyclare with two games in hand, whilst Loughgall are currently in fifth.

Portadown’s stop-start season will be for another kick start with a ‘derby’ trip to neighbours Lurgan Celtic. The Hoops currently are bottom of the Championship, but only five points behind Niall Currie’s Ports going into this game.

Leaders Ballyclare Comrades welcome Limavady United to Dixon Park and will be keen to keep their title crusade going and maintain their narrow lead at the top of the Championship. At Newforge, the PSNI take on HW Welders.
