The weather might have done its best to wipe out the weekend but the three Playr-Fit Championship games that did go ahead produced no shortage of action!

Leaders Bangor laid down a huge marker with victory over second placed Limavady United at Clandeboye Park on Friday night.

The Seasiders moved in front on 12 minutes after Tiernan Mulvenna whipped in a cross from the left for Ben Arthurs to power a header past keeper Martin Gallagher.

Bangor looked to double their advantage as the first half progressed with Kyle Owens coming closest only to be denied on the line.

Arthurs might have bagged his second of the evening in the closing moments of the game only to strike the crossbar after lifting the ball over substitute keeper Richard Purcell.

On Saturday Tiarnan O'Connor bagged a hat-trick for HW Welders but in the end the visitors had to settle for a point from a dramatic clash with Armagh City at Holm Park.

The game got off to a blistering start when, on two minutes, Igor Rutkowski found the net after Marc McConnell had knocked on Stefan Lavery's defence splitting pass.

The Welders levelled on ten minutes when O'Connor rose highest to head home Josh Kee's cross into the box before, two minutes after that, he ran onto a through ball to keep his cool to beat the advancing home keeper.

The 22-year-old then claimed the match ball early in the second half after making the most of a defensive mix-up to find the net with his right foot.

Conor Mullen pulled one back for the Eagles on the hour but the Welders held on until the eighth minute of added time when Ethan Jordan headed home the dramatic equaliser after a corner had been whipped into the box!

And Ballyclare Comrades began life under new boss Barry Baggley with victory over Newry City at Dixon Park.

But they had to come from behind to do so after Brian Healy fired the visitors in front after just six minutes from the edge of the box.

Alan McMurtry levelled for the Comrades midway through the first half after winning the ball in midfield and, spotting keeper Conor Mitchell off his line, lifted the ball into the net from 35 yards.

Aidan Kelly edged Ballyclare in front for the first time nine minutes after the break with a finish into the top corner from Cillin Gilmour's free-kick.

Adam Salley had the ball in the net for the visitors just past the hour but this was ruled out after a push.

However Michael Leetch ended the game as a contest with seven minutes remaining after cutting in front the right to curl the ball home in off the far post.
