WELDERS AND ROESIDERS KEEP THE PACE IN CHAMPIONSHIP

HW Welders and Limavady United keep pace at the top of the Playr-Fit Championship as both clubs picked up important wins.

Paul Kee's Welders were 2-1 winners at home to fellow promotion hopefuls Annagh United at the Blanchflower Stadium.

It was Annagh who took an early lead through Ryan Swan on 9 minutes following a mix-up in the home defence.

The Welders fought back through a Tiarnan O'Connor double, either side of the half-time. The first a stunning long range effort which curled over the Annagh defence, and the second after he nipped through to slot home.

In the battle of the two newly promoted sides, Limavady United ran out comfortable 3-0 winners at home to Armagh City.

John Butcher and Ian Parkhill where on target in the first half, with Lewis Tosh adding a third for the Roesiders into the second half.

Dundela remain in third place just two points behind the leaders, after their narrow victory over Ards at Clandeboye Park.

Michael McLellan's 26th minute goal separated the sides, as he latched onto a through ball from Prendergast to slot home the winner.

In Fermanagh, Ballinamallard United were the big winners of the day, defeating Newington 4-1 at Ferney Park.

James McGrath and Jamie Dunne scored before half-time for the Mallards, before Darragh Stewart and Simon Warrington added second half strikes in the convincing win.

Jackson Reid scored a second half consolation for Newington.

Ballyclare Comrades picked up an important three points on the road against struggling Institute.

Michael Morgan opened the scoring for Ballyclare Comrades, before two Brian Healy goals either side of a Caoimhin Porter goal sealed the victory.

Friday night seen one of the games of the season, as Bangor came out on top against Newry in a nine-goal thriller.

Ben Cushnie scored the winner for Bangor in a stunning 5-4 victory.
