Conor McKendry grabbed Larne’s winner with just over ten minutes remaining as they defeated leaders Linfield in the big game at Windsor Park.

Scoreless at the break, the Blues upped the ante in the second half and did everything except score – but they were stunned in the 79th minute.

After defending another home attack, the visitors broke down the pitch with Matthew Lusty getting a shot away which Chris Johns did well to push out but only as far as substitute McKendry to drive home from eight yards.

And it took an even later goal at the Ballymena Showgrounds to give Jim Ervin’s Sky Blues the edge over Glentoran.

United clocked up their third league win on the bounce thanks to leading scorer Ben Kennedy finding the net right at the end of normal time when he ran onto a long ball forward to keep his cool and direct a shot beyond keeper Daniel Gyollai.

The form book was ripped up at Seaview after a Michael O’Connor strike gave Glenavon the points at the expense of Crusaders’ previously intact unbeaten start to the season.

O’Connor knocked home what proved to be the only goal of the game on 18 minutes with a strong strike past Jonny Tuffey from Peter Campbell’s looping cross.

Cliftonville were the biggest winners on the day with a 5-1 thumping of Loughgall at Lakeview Park.

The Reds stormed into a three-goal lead with less than half-an-hour on the clock.

Joe Gormley kicked the scoring off on 19 minutes with a calm finish past Nathan Gartside, Kris Lowe doubled up just four minutes later but Jonny Addis added a third not long after that with a thundering header from Ronan Doherty’s corner.

Recent signing Taylor Steven then added to Cliftonville’s tally late in the second half just after Nathaniel Ferris had hit a consolation for the Villagers.

Two second half goals handed Coleraine the points from Carrick Rangers’ visit to the Ballycastle Road.

The sides swapped goals around the half-hour mark with Connor Murray edging the Bannsiders in front with a superb right-foot curling effort, just ahead of a deflected Paul Heatley finish for Stuart King’s side.

Mackenzie Carse restored home advantage not long after the interval on the follow up after Dean Jarvis’ initial effort was saved.

Rhyss Campbell then made sure of the points on 73 minutes after he rose highest at the back post to head home Jamie Glackin’s corner.

Meanwhile, on Friday night, Ben Wylie struck deep into stoppage time as Portadown defeated Dungannon Swifts by the odd goal in three at Shamrock Park.

The Swifts took an early lead through Danny Wallace’s close range finish from Adam Glenny’s knock on.

Ahu Obhakhan levelled for the Ports early in the second half when he connected with Steven McCullough’s cross … and that was how it stayed until Wylie struck at the back post in the dying moments.
