There were more twists and turns at the top of the Playr-Fit Championship following victories for Bangor and Institute while leaders Dundela fell to defeat in the east Belfast derby.

Annagh United and Newington also collected three points apiece following wins over Ballyclare Comrades and Dergview.

Dundela remain two points clear at the top, but they lost 3-1 to derby rivals HW Welders at the Blanchflower Stadium.

It started off well for the Duns after Lee Rea opened the scoring on five minutes, but they were reduced to ten men midway through the first half following Ewan Kelly’s dismissal for a bad challenge.

The Welders levelled through Oisin Barr early in the second half, with Dundela losing another player just after the hour when Jordan Jenkins was sent-off after bringing down Kyle Owens.

Matthew Ferguson then edged the Welders in front with around a quarter-of-an-hour remaining, before he made sure of the points with his second of the game in stoppage time.

Bangor, in second place, swept to a 4-0 defeat of Ballinamallard United at Ferney Park.

Scott McArthur broke the deadlock as early as the fourth minute, with Lewis Francis doubling up right at the end of the first half.

Ben Arthurs then made it 3-0 on 77 minutes with Lewis Harrison completing the scoring with a stoppage time header.

Third placed Institute kept up the pressure with a three-goal win away to bottom of the table Knockbreda.

Shaun Leppard edged ‘Stute in front midway through the first half, with goals from Cahal McGinty and Mikhail Kennedy clinching the points after the break.

Ruaidhrí Donnelly bagged two second half goals as Newington swept to a 3-0 win over Dergview at Inver Park.

Darren Stuart had handed the Swans an early advantage, but it needed that Donnelly double after the break to settle the game.

Meanwhile, at the BMG Arena, Annagh United continued their good run with victory over Ballyclare Comrades by the odd goal in three.

James Convie opened the scoring on 18 minutes after being played clear by Ruairi McDonald, with McDonald himself doubling the home advantage just before the hour.

Tomas Gilmour hit a late consolation for the visitors but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback.
