It’s as you were at the top of the Playr-Fit Championship as leading duo Bangor and Limavady United had to settle for Boxing Day draws but there were victories for Ballinamallard United and Armagh City.

Additionally, bottom of the table Newington picked up a point away to Ballyclare Comrades.

Bangor faced neighbours Ards at Clandeboye Park and despite playing with ten men for over an hour following Robert Garrett’s first half dismissal ended up securing a point.

Both sides had their chances, with Ards coming closest when Eamon Scannell turned a corner against the post while the Seasiders were denied by a stoppage time goalline clearance.

Limavady United travelled to face Institute at the Brandywell, and came away with a point.

Scoreless at the break, Stephen Doherty had edged ‘Stute in front a few minutes into the second half.

It was a lead they held until the closing moments when Andrew Whiteside headed low into the bottom corner at the back post after rising to connect with a corner.

Armagh City came from a goal down to defeat Annagh United 3-1 at Holm Park.

Craig Taylor opened the scoring with just over half-an-hour on the clock after cutting in from the left to beat Conner Byrne with a right footed finish.

Adam Coogan levelled five minutes later on the follow up after Lee Upton’s initial effort was cleared off the line.

Stephen Teggart handed City the lead on the stroke of half-time from a free-kick before knocked home the winner from the edge of the area early in the second half.

Ballinamallard United picked up an important three points with victory over Newry City at Ferney Park.

The Mallards moved in front on 14 minutes after Jamie Dunne followed up to turn home the rebound after Darragh Stewart's initial effort had been cleared off the line.

However Newry hit back moments later through Ryan McNickle when he created space for himself in the box to blast home the equaliser.

That was how it stayed until ten minutes from time when Ryan Morris popped up to poke the ball home from close range and claim the winner for the Mallards.

Meanwhile, at Dixon Park, Fiontan O’Boyle hit a 77th minute equaliser for Newington after Ballyclare Comrades had held the lead for over an hour courtesy of Michael Morgan’s finish under the keeper.
