A big day of Playr-Fit Championship action produced huge results at both ends of the table, including wins for Institute, Newry City, Dundela, Annagh United, Limavady United and HW Welders.
‘Stute, struggling at the wrong end of the table, welcomed runaway leaders Bangor to the Brandywell and collected all three points in an impressive performance from Kevin Deery’s side.
Caoimhin Porter opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark, with Mikhail Kennedy doubling up with a header early in the second half.
Brendan McLaughlin added a third with just under a quarter-of-an-hour remaining with Ben Cushnie grabbing what was only a consolation for the visitors on 82 minutes.
Second placed Limavady United closed the gap at the top to seven points with a dominant four-goal thumping of Ballyclare Comrades at Dixon Park.
Jake Martin curled home the opener on 31 minutes with Stephen Lowry adding number two on the turn a few minutes from the break.
The Roesiders extended their advantage early in the second half when Ruairi Boorman got on the end of a cross before, in stoppage time, Peter Leighton headed home United’s fourth.
Ryan Swan bagged a hat-trick as third placed Annagh United eased to victory away to Ballinamallard United.
The 28-year-old edged United in front on 16 minutes with a near post header from Craig Taylor’s corner before doubling his tally a quarter-of-an-hour later into the bottom corner.
He then laid claim to the match ball just before the break with a close range header from another Taylor delivery.
Michael McLellan also hit three as fourth placed Dundela won a seven-goal thriller with Armagh City at Holm Park.
The Duns dominated the first half with McLellan knocking home two before the break and a third on 57 minutes while Jay Harvey also added to the tally early in the second period.
However the Eagles stormed back when Noeem Oladunjoye found the net just after the hour, and another through Conor Mullen on 75 minutes.
Marc McConnell then added a third for City with eight minutes remaining to set up a nervy finish but the visitors did enough to hang on.
Newry City picked up a much needed three points with victory over Ards at Clandeboye Park with the only goal of the game arriving late on courtesy of a Ryan McNickle spot-kick.
And HW Welders needed an even later goal to get the better of bottom of the table Newington at the Blanchflower Stadium as Daniel Kearns found the net five minutes into added time.
