Crusaders, Glentoran and Dungannon Swifts made hay while the sun shone with Saturday afternoon victories as the Sports Direct Premiership continued.
Glentoran striker Jordan Jenkins will grab all the headlines with an absolute stunner of a goal which ultimately handed Declan Devine’s side the points from Cliftonville’s visit to the BetMcLean Oval.
The 24-year-old hit the only goal of the game as early as the second minute after he flicked the ball into space on the edge of the area and unleashed a terrific left-foot screamer into the top corner giving David Odumosu no chance.
Across the city Crusaders came from a goal down to defeat Carrick Rangers at Seaview.
Curtis Allen fired Rangers in front after just seven minutes when he pounced on the rebound from Danny Gibson’s initial effort.
That was how it stayed until two goals in as many minutes midway through the second half tipped the balance in favour of the Crues.
Daniel Larmour levelled on 63 minutes with a back post diving header before, two minutes after that, Kieran Offord added to his tally for the season with what turned out to be the winner after running onto Jordan Forsythe’s through ball.
Dungannon Swifts made it two wins and two clean sheets in a row with a two-goal victory over Loughgall at Lakeview Park.
Gael Bigirimana edged the Swifts in front on 38 minutes when he got on the end of Bobby-Jack McAleese’s cross to nod past Nathan Gartside from close range.
Then, around the hour mark, John McGovern doubled up for Rodney McAree’s side after McAleese again turned provider.
The weekend action began on Friday night with games at Shamrock Park and the Ballymena Showgrounds.
Portadown played host to Linfield and twice came from behind to earn a share of the spoils.
Matthew Fitzpatrick had fired the Blues in front early on with a right-foot finish, but Ahu Obhakhan levelled for the Ports from point blank range a few minutes from the break.
Fitzpatrick bagged his second of the evening on 70 minutes to seemingly secure the points for Linfield, but they reckoned without Ryan Mayse popping up deep into added time with a rifled half volley past Chris Johns.
Meanwhile, Ben Kennedy bagged a hat-trick as Ballymena United picked up their first win of the season at Glenavon's expense.
Kennedy opened the scoring on 14 minutes with a header from Andy Scott's cross and doubled up a short time later after a botched clearance fell for him.
Keith Ward pulled one back for the visitors just after the half-hour mark, but Kennedy made sure and claimed the match ball early in the second half from Johnny McMurray's knock down.
The match week concludes on Sunday afternoon when Coleraine host champions Larne, kick-off 2.15pm.
