The opening round of Playr-Fit Premier Intermediate League fixtures produced narrow victories Lisburn Distillery, Knockbreda, Moyola Park, Coagh United, Dollingstown, Oxford Sunnyside and Warrenpoint Town.

The Whites were the biggest winners on the day, and even then they only edged past Rathfriland Rangers by two goals at Iveagh Park.

Mark McKee opened the scoring just before the break when he forced the ball over the line from Kyle Flynn’s cross, with Gary Warwick making sure of the points with around a quarter-of-an-hour remaining on the counter attack.

Newly promoted Oxford Sunnyside began life in their new surroundings with a 2-1 defeat of Portstewart at Knockramer Park.

Daniel Smith edged the Lurgan side in front on 12 minutes, while Callum Ferris struck in the first half stoppage time to double their advantage.

Taylor McBride pulled one back for the Seahawks midway through the second half but it wasn’t enough to spoil the party for Oxford.

Knockbreda defeated Dergview by the odd goal in five at Darragh Park.

The sides traded goals in the first half as Fra Nolan edged ‘Breda in front on 14 minutes, with Marc Walsh levelling just over ten minutes later.

Peter McDermott restored the visitors advantage just before the break but there was still time for Dergview to equalise through Jonathan McKeown in stoppage time.

That was how it stayed until Elliot McKim popped up with what proved to be Knockbreda’s winner late in the game.

There was an even later winner at Crystal Park as Moyola Park defeated Banbridge Town by the same scoreline.

Kenny Shiels’ side got off to a storming start when Luca Doherty opened the scoring in the first minute but goals from Cormac McNally and a Stephen McCavitt spot-kick tipped the balance back in the favour of Banbridge.

Kenneth Kane levelled for Moyola midway through the second half, with Ciaran McKeever hitting the 95th minute winner with a header from the edge of the six yard box.

Zach Ferson struck Coagh United’s winner in their 2-1 defeat of Queen’s University at Hagan Park.

Luke Taylor edged United in front on 12 minutes but Mikey Withers hit back for the Students just a few minutes later. Ferson then bagged the decisive goal just before the hour.

All the scoring came after the break at Planters Park in Dollingstown’s 2-1 victory over Tobermore United.

Henry Cromack edged the Dollybirds in front after 49 minutes ahead of Daniel McIlhatton’s equaliser 20 minutes after that.

But the home side went on to claim the points when Ben Neill found the net with six minutes left.

Meanwhile, at the Bluebell Stadium, a Declan Loye finish on 52 minutes was enough to give Warrenpoint Town the advantage over Ballymacash Rangers.
