If it was goals you were after then a Playr-Fit Championship ground was the place to be on Saturday afternoon.

The six games on offer produced no fewer than a remarkable 33 goals between them on a sparkling day of action up and down the country.

HW Welders led the way in the scoring stakes, hitting seven past Ballyclare Comrades at Dixon Park.

Tiarnan O’Connor needed just four minutes to open the scoring after making the most of a defensive mix-up, before Brandon Doyle doubled up a quarter-of-an-hour later from ten yards.

Michael Morgan pulled one back for Ballyclare soon after, but a second for Doyle followed by a ferocious Dylan O’Kane effort was the Welders stretch their lead.

The scoring continued with Morgan’s second of the game before the break, with O’Kane also hitting his second after the hour.

However the match ball was eventually to go home with Doyle following his hat-trick goal on 70 minutes, with David Parkhouse coming off the bench to complete the scoring soon after.

Armagh City powered to a 4-1 defeat of Ards at Holm Park.

Aidan Steele had given Ards the lead on 44 minutes, but Igor Rutkowski levelled in first half stoppage time.

Dermot McCaffrey edged the Eagles in front early in the second half from a free-kick, and that was how it stayed until the closing moments when Ugo Anny-Nzekwue and Noeem Oladunjoye made sure Shea Campbell’s side claimed the points.

Newington hit back from twice falling behind to share the spoils with Newry City at Inver Park.

Lorcan Forde registered a first half hat-trick for the visitors, while Darren Murray also found the net for the Swans to keep the game alive at the break.

Aodhfionn Casey pulled another one back for Newington midway through the second half before Murray notched up his second of the game to ensure it finished all square.

Dundela and Ballinamallard United also played out a 3-3 draw at Wilgar Park.

The Mallards led at the break through Joshua McIlwaine, and extended their lead early in the second half when Richard Johnston found the net.

Jack Smith struck from the edge of the area to throw the Duns a lifeline, but when Darragh Stewart scored a third for the visitors it looked like game over.

But the Duns rallied to cut the deficit courtesy of Aaron Prendergast’s 78th minute spot-kick just moments before Andy Hall knocked in the equaliser.

Limavady United enjoyed a successful trip to the seaside to get past Bangor at Clandeboye Park.

The Roesiders moved in front through Joe McCready midway through the first half, but Kyle Owens hit Bangor’s leveller not long after the interval.

Ian Parkhill restored the visitors’ advantage on the hour, however, with Jake Martin making sure right at the end.

Meanwhile, at the BMG Arena, Annagh United got the better of Institute by the odd goal in three.

All the scoring came early on with Ryan Swan breaking the deadlock after just three minutes and Jamie Browne responding for ‘Stute almost immediately.

But, with just over a quarter of an hour on the clock, Jack Evans restored United’s lead with what proved to be the winner.
