Portadown are one win away from clinching the Playr-Fit Championship following the latest round of games, with only two points separating the four sides immediately behind them!
Niall Currie’s side are four points clear with just two games remaining after a 3-1 victory over HW Welders at Shamrock Park.
The visitors had twice hit the woodwork early on before Eamon Fyfe edged the Ports in front with around a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock.
Ryan Mayse doubled the home advantage on the hour, but the Welders hit back just over ten minutes after that thanks to Michael McLellan’s penalty.
However Paul McElroy made sure of the points for Portadown in stoppage time.

Jordan Jenkins had fired the Duns in front on ten minutes, a lead they held until Ben Cushnie levelled with a low free-kick early in the second half.
Lewis Francis then nudged the Seasiders in front with just over ten minutes to go, with Ben Arthurs beating the offside trap to complete the scoring in the closing moments.
And two goals early in the second half kept Annagh United’s hopes very much alive with victory over Institute at the Brandywell.
Scoreless at the break, Stephen Murray edged the visitors in front on 51 minutes, just ahead of James Convie’s finish on the hour.
Knockbreda’s relegation was confirmed after their 4-0 defeat to Ballyclare Comrades at Solitude.
Liam Hassin fired the Comrades in front just before the break, with a further two goals from skipper Gary Donnelly and Brian Healy early in the second half killing the game as a contest. Caolan Donnelly then completed the scoring with a quarter-of-an-hour to go.
Ballinamallard United swept to a two-goal derby defeat of Dergview at Ferney Park.
Both goals came early in the first half with Daniel Barker registering in the opening minute, and Darragh Byrne doubling up before a quarter-of-an-hour had elapsed.
Meanwhile, at Clandeboye Park, Ards almost ensured their safety following a 1-1 draw with Newington.
Ethan Taggart bundled Ards in front early in the second half, with Darren Stuart nodding home the equaliser late in the game.
