Another dramatic afternoon in the Sports Direct Premiership produced big results at both ends of the table as the exciting start to the season just keeps on giving.

Linfield moved back into pole position following a 3-1 win on the road to Coleraine.

David Healy’s side led at the break thanks to Kyle McClean’s low finish early in the game, but the Bannsiders hit back to level early in the second half courtesy of Jamie Glackin’s point blank header.

But Chris Shields restored Linfield’s lead just after the hour before Chris McKee made sure of the points after connecting with Joel Cooper’s cross to the back post.

Morning leaders Crusaders thought they had done enough to get the better of Loughgall at Seaview.

Scoreless for most of the game, the Crues found a way through thanks to Paul Heatley’s 74th minute strike from 12 yards but the Villagers responded positively to level with five minutes to go when Benjamin Magee lobbed Jonny Tuffey.

Champions Larne blasted four goals past Newry City at Inver Park.

Paul O’Neill kicked the scoring off early on after Micheal Glynn had played the ball across the face of goal, but the real damage was done with two further goals just before the break.

Levi Ives made it 2-0 with a deflected effort from just outside the area, followed swiftly by a Glynn strike from a similar distance. Ives then doubled his tally for the afternoon midway through the second half.

Niall McGinn grabbed the only goal of the game as Glentoran defeated Cliftonville at the BetMcLean Oval.

The former Northern Ireland international struck with around a quarter-of-an-hour remaining with a superb finish from an acute angle after getting past a defender to turn home Daire O’Connor’s cross to the back post.

Meanwhile, at Mourneview Park, Glenavon came out on top of the big basement battle with Ballymena United.

With both sides going into the game without a win it took a Calum Birney finish after just four minutes to ultimately claim the points.
