There was disappointment for two of the top three in the Lough 41 Championship as both Warrenpoint Town and Annagh United slipped to defeat on the road.
With leaders Loughgall not in action this weekend second placed ‘Point had hoped to close the gap on the Villagers but went down by the odd goal in three away to Dundela, themselves still in fourth spot.
Ciaran Dobbin bagged both goals for the Duns. The 24-year-old opened the scoring with around ten minutes of the first half remaining, before doubling up not long after the interval. Steven Ball pulled one back for Barry Gray’s side late on but it wasn’t enough to deny the home side the points.
Annagh fell to a third successive defeat with a two-goal reversal at Ards. Adam Salley had headed Ards in front on 35 minutes but they needed a superb finish from Ethan Taggart with around a quarter-of-an-hour remaining to make sure of the win.
At the other end of the table Newington climbed out of the bottom two with a three-goal win at basement boys Knockbreda.
The Swans moved in front late in the first half after ‘Breda’s Adam Wright turned the ball into his own net. Darren Stuart made it 2-0 around the hour mark, before Michael Morgan completed the scoring five minutes from time.
Dergview dropped back into the relegation play-off spot despite twice coming from behind to earn a point from Institute at the Brandywell.
Scoreless at the break, Jamie McCormick opened the scoring from close range on 52 minutes only for Jamie Browne to level five minutes after that.
Sean McCarron’s restored ‘Stute’s lead with ten minutes to go but Mikhail Kennedy rescued a share of the spoils for Tommy Canning’s side three minutes from time.
