Gary Boyle has stepped down as boss of Sports Direct Premiership side Newry City.

In a statement released via their social media channels, the club said: "Reluctantly the Management Committee of Newry City AFC have accepted the resignation of Manager Gary Boyle.

"We thank Gary for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future. Further updates will follow in due course."

The news comes after City had lost by four goals at home to Glenavon on Boxing Day, a result that leaves the club three points adrift at the foot of the table.

Boyle was appointed to the position in May 2023 as a replacement for long serving manager Darren Mullen.
