It turned out to be a good Boxing Day for Annagh United, Dergview, Institute and Ballyclare Comrades while the spoils were shared at Clandeboye Park.

Annagh United recorded a 3-1 victory over local rivals Portadown at the BMG Arena.

Kris Calvert fired Ciaran McGurgan’s side in front on 23 minutes with Jordan Campbell adding another right at the end of the first half. Ruairi McDonald then made it 3-0 in stoppage time with Eamon Fyfe bagging what was merely scant consolation for the Ports moments after that.

That result allowed Institute to move into second spot following their 4-1 defeat of Knockbreda in the early kick-off at Breda Park.

Michael Harris opened and closed the scoring, either side of goals for Shaun Leppard and Kirk McLaughlin while Ronan Kalla had initially levelled for ‘Breda.

Ards came from two goals down to share the spoils with landlords Bangor at Clandeboye Park.

Bangor, the ‘away’ side on this occasion, raced into an early lead with goals from Scott McArthur and Ben Arthurs inside the opening 20 minutes. Callum Dougan reduced the deficit midway through the second half before Ross Hunter levelled for Matthew Tipton’s side with ten minutes remaining.

Dergview picked up a crucial three points with a narrow one-goal defeat of Ballinamallard United at Darragh Park with Jamie Browne bagging the winner with just less than a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock following a mistake in the visiting defence.

Meanwhile, at Inver Park, Ballyclare Comrades defeated Newington by the odd goal in three.

Michael Morgan broke the deadlock on 16 minutes with a toe poke under Dean Smyth but Zach Barr equalised for the Swans after half-an-hour.

And that was how it stayed until the 76th minute when Gary Donnelly slotted home from the spot.

The holiday action continues on Wednesday afternoon when HW Welders host Dundela in the east Belfast derby at the Blanchflower Stadium, kick-off 3pm.
