What a Friday night it turned out to be as yet another Sports Direct Premiership weekend swung into action!
Glentoran picked up all three points on the road to Ballymena, but the real story of the night were the events at both Stangmore Park and Lakeview Park as both Dungannon Swifts and Glenavon stormed back from two goals down to salvage something from seemingly hopeless situations.
At The Showgrounds it was a fairly straightforward affair for the Glens against the now bottom of the table Sky Blues.
Junior Uzokwe opened the scoring as early as the seventh minute after he made no mistake from close range after a ball into the box was touched into his path.
That was how it stayed, however, until four minutes into stoppage time when Niall McGinn laid off a superb pass for Jay Donnelly to touch home at the back post.
Loughgall raced into a two-goal lead over Glenavon at Lakeview Park with barely half-an-hour on the clock.
The Villagers moved in front with just over a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock after Tiernan Kelly found the bottom left with a first time effort from inside the box.
Then, on 31 minutes, Andrew Hoey doubled the home advantage at the back post after connecting with a ball sent over from the right flank.
But Glenavon, still seeking their first point of the campaign, hit back with a couple of Conor McCloskey goals either side of the hour.
His first, on 58 minutes, was courtesy of a superb looping free-kick over Berraat Turker who could only look on helplessly before, five minutes after that, he pounced after a Peter Campbell effort wasn't properly cleared before tucking the ball home at the back post.
And the Comeback Kings themselves, Dungannon Swifts, pulled off a similar escape act as they played host to Coleraine.
Scoreless at the break, the Bannsiders moved in front midway through the second half when Darren Cole met a Jamie Glackin corner to nod past Niall Morgan from six yards out.
Oran Kearney's side appeared to have wrapped up the points with five minutes remaining courtesy of a David McDaid close range finish when Andrew Mitchell had knocked a Glackin corner into his path.
However, Rodney McAree’s Swifts side don’t know when they’re beaten and proved that again on 90 minutes when Matthew Lusty blasted the ball past Gareth Deane from 12 yards, followed by a remarkable 97th minute equaliser through skipper Ethan McGee’s rifled volley into the roof of the net.
The action continues on Saturday afternoon when Linfield welcome Carrick Rangers to Windsor Park while Crusaders make the trip to face Newry City, both 3pm kick-offs.
And the weekend wraps up at tea time as Cliftonville face champions Larne at Solitude, kick-off 5:30pm.
