Loughgall stretched their lead at the top of the Lough 41 Championship to seven points following a weekend of action that also produced notable victories for Dundela, Dergview, Ballinamallard United, Ballyclare Comrades and Institute.
The Villagers bounced back from last week’s defeat to storm to a 6-1 defeat of Ards at Lakeview Park. A Robbie Norton strike gave them a slender advantage at the break but a Nedas Maciulaitis second half hat-trick coupled with further goals from Pablo Andrade and Mark Patton saw Dean Smith’s side run out comfortable victors.
Dundela moved into second spot following a week that saw them lose boss Niall Currie to Portadown. Under the interim stewardship of Paul Moore the Duns edged to a narrow victory over Warrenpoint Town thanks to Benny Igiehon’s 85th minute winner.
And it was a big day for bottom of the table Dergview after they collected their first win of the campaign at home to Annagh United, who had started the game in second place. Mikhail Kennedy grabbed what proved to be the only goal of the game from the spot just before the hour.
At the Brandywell second half goals from Cathair Friel and Mark McFadden helped Institute defeat Knockbreda.
Meanwhile, on Friday night, Ballyclare Comrades hit five goals with reply past HW Welders at the Blanchflower Stadium while Ballinamallard United fought back from three goals down to get the better of Newington at Solitude.
