Linfield will have to overturn a one-goal deficit in tonight's Champions League clash with The New Saints at Windsor Park (kick-off 7:45pm) if they are to progress in Europe's premier competition.

The Blues lost the first leg 1-0 last week in Oswestry. Ryan Brobbel grabbed the only goal in the game just before the hour mark to hand the Welsh champions a slender advantage in the tie.

Linfield had numerous opportunities to level in the closing quarter-of-an-hour.

Recent signing Robbie McDaid was played in by Joel Cooper only to be denied by keeper Connor Roberts, who also thwarted Jordan Stewart five minutes later.

Then Chris McKee teed Stephen Fallon up but his close range effort was kept out by Roberts again before, in the closing minutes, Kyle McClean failed to control the ball after being found by Cooper inside the box.

The aggregate winners of the tie will go through to face either Bodo/Glint or KI Klaksvik. Norwegian side Bodo/Glint lead that tie 3-0.

The losers will drop down into the UEFA Europa Conference League to play the losers of the Swedish side Malmo and Iceland's Vikingur. Malmo hold a 3-2 lead in that tie.
