Home comfort was very much the order of the day as Linfield, Coleraine, Ballymena United and Dungannon Swifts all swept to victories in front of their own fans.

Leaders Linfield restored their three point gap at the top of the table thanks to two second half goals against Glenavon.

Scoreless at the break, the Blues edged in front just after the hour when Christy Manzinga fired home a Jamie Mulgrew cross before, a couple of minutes from time, Chris McKee made sure with a diving header from another Mulgrew delivery.

Coleraine returned to winning ways after a long period without success in the league by hitting three goals without reply past Carrick Rangers.

Rodney Brown headed the Bannsiders in front midway through the first half from Jamie Glackin's cross before Steven Gordon turned the ball into his own net to make it 2-0 on 38 minutes. Lyndon Kane then completed the scoring from the spot nine minutes after the break.

Ballymena United needed just one goal to get the better of Warrenpoint Town to stretch their run of victories on Warden Street to six in a row. Skipper Leroy Millar bagged what proved to be the winner on 37 minutes, although the Sky Blues could have posted a more convincing result only to be thwarted by the woodwork and disallowed goals on several occasions.

And it was another good day for Dungannon Swifts boss Dean Shiels who watched his side record a 3-1 win over Portadown.

Cahal McGinty kicked the scoring off after eight minutes before Darragh McBrien made it 2-0 early in the second half. Substitute Ben Gallagher added a third in the closing minutes while the Ports had to settle for a stoppage time Oisin Conaty consolation.
