Glentoran Women star Lauren Wade has joined Women’s Super League side Reading Women after impressing for Northern Ireland at Euro 2022.
The forward featured across the three group stage matches for her nation and will become the fourth Northern Ireland international star to play in the top-flight of women’s football in England; joining former Glens teammate Jackie Burns at her new club, alongside Aston Villa Women’s Simone Magill and Rachel Furness of Liverpool Women.
Wade starred for the Glens last season as they defended their Danske Bank Women’s Premiership title and impressed in the Champions League qualification stages.
Wade’s playing career began at her hometown club Coleraine before encompassing professional spells in the US, Sweden, Iceland and Scotland prior to her return to Glentoran in 2020.
Her previous stint was at Glasgow City, where she netted a stunning goal in the club’s Champions League quarter-final loss to Wolfsburg in the 2019-20 campaign.
